CSC: Freebies await government workers next month

MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Service Commission is asking government employees to avail themselves of special treats from private stores and establishments in September in celebration of Civil Service Month and the 122nd founding anniversary of the CSC.

In a statement yesterday, CSC Chairman Karlo Nograles said the commission has partnered with private companies to give discounts and freebies to state workers.

“The 1.7 million civil servants are public service heroes. This is one way of making them feel our appreciation for a job well done and validate their contributions as we recover from the effects of the pandemic,” Nograles said.

Among the CSC’s partners is the SM Store, whose 70 branches nationwide will be holding a “Civil Service Day Sale” from Sept. 23 to 25, offering P300 off for a minimum P3,000 single-receipt purchase upon presentation of SM Advantage Card and a government employee ID.

Government workers can get passes at Star City for a discounted price of P400 instead of P549. The treat is extended to a maximum of three family members of government workers.

For a day of pampering, Dermcare will offer 50 percent discount on diamond power peel, 30 percent discount on other regular priced services and 10 percent discount on product sets.

Another dermatology clinic, RCC Amazing Touch, will also offer up to 30 percent discount in some of its services as well as buy one-take one promos for some of its products.

For eye care, all Ideal Vision stores nationwide will offer free eye examination, 20 percent discount on select regular-priced frames and sunglasses, 10 percent discount on lens as well as free 60ml Comfort Solution for contact lens purchased worth at least P1,000.

The Asian Eye Institute is giving 15 percent off for comprehensive eye exams and 10 percent discount on optical products. EyeSite by Asian Eye Institute will offer 10 percent discount on complete eye checkup and 10 percent off on optical products.

The Ramada Hotel and RedDoorz are offering discounted rates on certain rooms.

Other establishments set to give discounts to government workers for the month of September are furniture store FlexiSpot as well as gadget stores Anthony Audio Speaker and Henry’s Cameras.

Government employees are required to present their government agency ID or UMID card to avail themselves of the freebies.

“Contractual workers are also entitled to discounts provided they are able to present their official government agency ID card,” the CSC said.
