Nueva Vizcaya cop commits suicide after killing colleague
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — A policeman allegedly committed suicide after killing his colleague at a checkpoint in Barangay Bakir in Bagabag town before midnight yesterday.
Cpl. Jomar Puhay, 36, and M/Sgt. Jefferson Bartolome, 43, were at a checkpoint at the border of Ifugao and Nueva Vizcaya when the incident occurred, Col. Ranser Evasco, Nueva Vizcaya police director, said.
Puhay and Bartolome were reportedly arguing before a gunshot was heard from the police outpost’s kitchen.
Their companions found Puhay’s bloodied body on the floor while Bartolome escaped toward a dark portion of the road.
Bartolome was later found dead in a calamansi plantation.
Probers said Bartolome, who suffered a gunshot wound in the mouth, was believed to have committed suicide after the incident.
An investigation is underway.
