1 dead in Clark helicopter crash

MANILA, Philippines — A pilot died while his two passengers were injured when a helicopter crashed at the Clark Freeport Zone on Tuesday.

A 1973 model helicopter operated by Pacific Spotters Corp. was on a test flight when it crashed at around 10:45 a.m., the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported yesterday.

Mabalacat Mayor Crisostomo Carbo identified the fatality as Diosdado Lumandan.

Mechanics Ivan Abiong and Rodley Esogon were injured and taken to the Medical City Hospital in Clark.

A team from CAAP’s Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board and Flight Standards Inspectorate Service was dispatched to the crash site to conduct an investigation.
