Trader snatched in Bukidnon

Gerry Lee Gorit - The Philippine Star

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — A businessman was reportedly kidnapped by his friend over an alleged botched deal in Kalilangan, Bukidnon on Saturday.

The wife of the victim, identified as Abdel Fahar Mapandi, told police that the kidnapper was demanding P2 million in exchange for the release of her husband.

“We consider this as a kidnapping case and we have identified his childhood friend as the suspect,” Lt. Col. Michelle Olaivar, spokesperson for the Northern Mindanao police said.

Mapandi’s aide Jamal Banda reported the incident to the Kalilangan police. He said his employer was asleep in the house of his friend Omar Bayabao in Barangay Malinao when a group of men barged in at around 3 a.m.

The men reportedly dragged Mapandin into one of three waiting vehicles that sped away toward Lanao del Sur.
