Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela City government has started distributing free school supplies to pre-schoolers and elementary students as face-to-face classes start on Aug. 22.

There are 17,672 students in public elementary schools in the city.

An initial batch of 4,538 students from barangays Bagbaguin, De Leon, Gen. T. De Leon, Karuhatan, Mapulang Lupa, Maysan, Parada, Paso de Blas and Ugong have received school supplies.

The kits contain bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, a tumbler and a lunchbox.

The distribution of free school supplies will end on Aug. 20.

Valenzuela Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja expressed hope that the program would help ease the financial burden of parents during the school opening.

Mayor Wes Gatchalian called on the parents to have their children aged five to 17 vaccinated against COVID-19.
