ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Two linemen were gunned down while clearing power lines in a village in Isabela, Basilan yesterday.
Alvin Pangilinan and Raymond Singson of the Basilan Electric Cooperative (Baselco) were reportedly shot along Salain Drive in Barangay Sumagdang at around 11 a.m.
Police have yet to identify the perpetrators and the motive for the gun attack.
Baselco said it was conducting clearing operations to address system losses due to illegal connections.
The electric utility company suspended reconnections, disconnections and other related services following the attack.
