Rainy across Philippines due to LPA, habagat
MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or habagat and a low-pressure area spotted off Eastern Samar will bring rain over parts of the country today.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area was monitored 255 kilometers east of Guiuan as of 3 p.m. yesterday.
The two weather systems are expected to bring scattered rains over Mimaropa, Bicol, the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga peninsula and Quezon province.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience isolated rains due to the southwest monsoon as well as localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned the public of flash floods or landslides during heavy rain.
The state weather bureau said it is also monitoring a tropical cyclone outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
The tropical depression was spotted 845 kms west of extreme Northern Luzon. It was carrying maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55kph.
