MANILA, Philippines — Cyclists may carry their bicycles onboard the boats of the Pasig River Ferry System (PFRS), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday.

Both full-size and folding bikes would be allowed on ferryboats, the agency said in its advisory.

Cyclists may board the PRFS boats at Pinagbuhatan, San Joaquin, Maybunga and Kalawaan stations in Pasig City; Guadalupe and Valenzuela stations in Makati City; Hulo station in Mandaluyong City; and Sta. Ana, PUP, Lawton, Escolta and Quinta stations in Manila.

The ferry rides remain free of charge, said the MMDA.

The agency has been promoting the PRFS as an alternative mode of transport in Metro Manila, which has been congested with hundreds of thousands of vehicles causing heavy traffic every day.

Four ferryboats sail the 25-kilometer stretch of the Pasig River.
