MANILA, Philippines — Three Chinese and a Filipino were arrested for their alleged involvement in the illegal sale of telecommunication wires in Quezon City, police said yesterday.
Liyu Chen, Yaru Lin, Hong She Chen and Salvador Ruelo, 48, were arrested in Barangay Talipapa on Wednesday at around 6:30 p.m., Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina said in a statement.
The operation stemmed from a tip from a confidential informant about a group of people selling stolen telecommunication wires from Globe and PLDT, Medina said.
The suspects were apprehended while selling wires to a junk shop along Arty 2 street.
Police seized 209 kilos of telecommunications wire and 39 kilos of copper wire from the suspects, who are being held on charges of violation of Presidential Decree 1612 or the Anti-Fencing Law.
Medina reminded the public to take extra precautions to avoid being victims of thieves.
