CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — The bodies of six of the seven persons reported missing after a bridge collapsed in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Tuesday have been recovered, bringing the death toll to seven.
Maj. Joseph Ulfindo, Cavite police spokesman, said two of the five who were injured remained confined at the Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas.
“We have 13 victims, all minors. They fell into a river when the bridge collapsed in Sitio Talisayan, Barangay Sampaloc 4,” he said.
The first fatality – John Michael Beltran, 17 – died while being treated in a hospital.
Ulfindo said the bridge has been closed and not allowed for use of residents. “However, some teenagers use the bridge to hang out,” he said.
