P400 million shabu seized in Pampanga
MANILA, Philippines — Sixty kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P408 million were seized in San Fernando, Pampanga yesterday.
According to a spot report from Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, various anti-illegal drug units from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency recovered the illegal drugs from Hernani Cosumo, 31, during an operation in front of a gasoline station along the North Luzon Expressway at around 2 p.m.
Authorities said the vehicle used by the suspect was also seized.
Cosumo is under the custody of the Special Operations Unit of the National Capital Region Police Office for documentation and disposition.
In Lanao del Sur, agents of the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) uprooted and destroyed marijuana plants valued at P11 million in Sitio Dibarosan in Barangay Dilimbayan in Maguing town.
Marijuana plants worth P12 million were also destroyed in Barangay Bato-Bato, also in Maguing.
The PNP-DEG said several high-powered firearms, magazines and bullets were found at the scene.
No cultivator of the marijuana plantations was arrested.
The PNP-DEG said it would file charges against Moro National Liberation Front commander Salim Abubakar, who reportedly owns the guns. – Emmanuel Tupas
