MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday deployed free bus rides for train commuters following a strong earthquake that rocked Northern Luzon.
The MMDA said it fielded six buses after the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) stopped operations because of the temblor.
The buses picked up and dropped off passengers from the different MRT-3 stations along EDSA.
The MMDA also inspected its building in Makati after the earthquake.
In Pasay, Mayor Emi Rubiano ordered the local government to assess the areas around the city hall and check if there was any structural damage.
The Muntinlupa government ordered owners of buildings and establishments in the city equipped with earthquake recording instruments to submit data.
The data should be interpreted by a certified civil or structural engineer.
If there were cracks in the structure, the owners of establishments were advised to report such to the Muntinlupa city hall.
