P111.6 million marijuana destroyed in Kalinga
MANILA, Philippines — Police destroyed 558,000 marijuana plants with an estimated value of P111.6 million in Tinglayan, Kalinga yesterday.
Brig. Gen. Randy Peralta, director of the police Drug Enforcement Group, said the illegal drugs were discovered during a raid on marijuana plantations in Barangays Tuglao West and Loccong.
The cultivators of the plantations were not present during the operation.
On Tuesday, anti-narcotics agents burned 97,500 marijuana plants worth P21.7 million in the same town.
Meanwhile,in Cavite, 500 grams of shabu valued at P3.4 million were seized in General Trias City on Tuesday night.
The illegal drugs were recovered from Tanandato Adam Mingka, 28, who was arrested in a sting in Barangay San Francisco at around 9:45 p.m.
In Kidapawan City, Jude Paolo Javier was arrested during a controlled delivery operation, also yesterday.
Javier reportedly received a parcel, which contained 927 grams of kush or high-grade marijuana, and a vape cartridge with liquid marijuana valued at P1.29 million.
The Bureau of Customs in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group said the parcel was misdeclared as “cooking set.”
The parcel was shipped by a certain Janice Nguyen of Folsom, California. It arrived at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City on July 8.
