1 dead, 7 missing in Cavite bridge collapse

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — One person died and five others were injured after they fell into a river when a bridge collapsed in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Tuesday night.

Seven other persons were reported missing.

John Michael Beltran, 17, died while being treated at the Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas.

Jeralden Pacia, Lester Neri and Generos Pacia, all 16 years old; Danica Uy, 12, and Lyka Briones, 18, were injured and taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Col. Arnold Abad, Cavite police director, said the victims were crossing the bridge in Sitio Talisayan when it collapsed.

Search and retrieval operations for those missing are ongoing.
