MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippine National Police (PNP) reached 142 on Saturday.
The figure is 36.53 percent higher compared to the 104 cases recorded on July 20.
Despite the rise in COVID cases, the death toll in the PNP stood at 129.
Eight police personnel infected with the virus have recovered.
The PNP’s vaccination drive remains in full swing, with 225,577 of its personnel fully vaccinated.
Up to 223,119 have received their booster shots while 144 are waiting for their second dose of COVID vaccines.
The PNP said 392 personnel are still defiant, refusing to get vaccinated without valid reasons.
A total of 154 personnel could not be vaccinated because of existing medical conditions.
Only 1 Parañaque b’gay virus-free
In Parañaque, only one of the 16 barangays remains free of COVID-19, the local government said over the weekend.
The city health office said Barangay La Huerta is the only community without active cases of COVID-19.
The local government said 128 people in Parañaque have contracted the virus, 26 of whom are in Barangay San Isidro.
The four other barangays with the most number of COVID cases are Moonwalk with 18 and Merville with 12.
In Marikina, the city government will give booster shots to around 3,000 senior citizens under home care.
Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said 75 percent of the elderly residents have received their third dose while 14 percent have availed themselves of a second booster.
