3 held for violating gun ban
MANILA, Philippines — Three people were arrested in Quezon City on Friday for violation of the gun ban imposed in Metro Manila as part of security measures for President Marcos’ first State of the Nation Address.
Edison Tauro, 31; Kenneth Suazon, 35, and Rocky Rol, 37, were apprehended by operatives of the Highway Patrol Group along EDSA’s southbound lane at around 9:30 a.m., according to HPG director Brig. Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
Marbil, in a message on Viber, said the suspects were in a Suzuki Ciaz GL-AT sedan that lawmen pulled over near Panay Avenue for a routine inspection.
Policemen became suspicious after an inquiry with the Land Transportation Office revealed the license plate of the suspects’ vehicle was intended for a Toyota Corolla sedan.
Marbil said the trio were detained after policemen noticed there were firearms in the vehicle.
Seized from the suspects were a .380 automatic Colt pistol, a .45-caliber handgun and a 9mm pistol.
