MANILA, Philippines — A woman died of suspected food poisoning after eating chicken “mami” or noodle soup in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday.

Josefina Manila, 43, died while 14 others were hospitalized after eating noodle soup at a store owned by Joy Bernardo in Barangay 172, Gagalangin.

The victims were rushed to the hospital after suffering dizziness and vomiting.

The cause of Manila’s death could be food poisoning, according to probers.

Samples from the noodle soup were taken by the Manila Health Department to determine if there was contamination, barangay captain Ramon delos Angeles said.

Bernardo apologized to the victims, saying it was not her intention to poison them with the soup.
