Raps vs cops in drug informants’ slay try dismissed
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – The attempted murder case filed against three members of a police intelligence unit in connection with the slay attempt on two drug informants in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite has been dismissed.
Lt. Col. Richard Corpuz, town police chief, said assistant provincial prosecutor Jefferson Miralles ordered the dismissal of the case filed against Cpls. Mark Jefferson Arzola and Gerald Casanova and Pat. Amiel Alcantara of the Biñan police after the drug informants executed an affidavit saying they will no longer pursue the case.
However, Col. Cecilio Ison, Laguna police director, said investigation of the administrative complaint filed against the policemen is ongoing.
He said the accused were placed under restrictive custody at the Laguna police headquarters.
One of the victims said he was handcuffed, blindfolded and beaten up when the information they gave about a supposed drug pusher turned out negative. They said one of the policemen tried to shoot them, but missed.
