Western Visayas’ most wanted person falls
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The most wanted person in Western Visayas was arrested in Calinog, Iloilo yesterday.
Joel Leyble was apprehended at his residence in Barangay Toyungan at around 3:40 a.m.
The arresting team was composed of personnel of the Calinog and Lambunao police, Regional Intelligence Division, Iloilo police-Special Operations Group, 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, 602nd, 603rd, and 606th companies and battalion headquarters of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Special Action Force commandos as well as the Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion and Philippine Air Force.
When asked about the show of force, Maj. Dadje Delima, Calinog police chief, said the area is a mountainous village where there are sightings of New People’s Army rebels.
The arrest was based on warrants for three counts of rape issued by Iloilo Regional Trial Court Branch 76 Judge Redentor Eugenio Esperanza last May.
Calinog Mayor Francisco Calvo of Calinog gave an incentive of P200,000 to the arresting officers.
