3 killed in Nueva Ecija PNP checkpoint ‘shootout’

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines — Three motorcycle riders were killed in an alleged shootout with police manning a checkpoint in Nueva Ecija on Monday night.

Reports reaching Col. Jess Mendez, acting provincial police director, showed that the three, who have yet to be identified, refused to pull over at the checkpoint in Barangay Gomez in Llanera town.

The police report said a shootout occurred when the three fired at pursuing law enforcers.

Authorities said three 9mm pistols and the two motorcycles with no license plate that were used by the suspects were recovered.
