Suspected gunrunner nabbed in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines — A man said to be involved in gunrunning was arrested in Taguig City on Thursday, police reported yesterday.

Rasil Mohammad, 37, was apprehended during an entrapment operation at the parking lot of a mall at the FTI Complex.

National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad said Mohammad allegedly negotiated a deal with a police officer for the firearms in his possession.

Police said they confiscated a .45-caliber handgun and a 9mm pistol from the suspect.

Mohammad is being held on charges of violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

Meanwhile, one of the most wanted fugitives in Quezon City was arrested on Friday.

Jefferson Britanico, 24, was nabbed in Barangay Loyola Heights.

Britanico, listed as the No. 1 most wanted person of the Anonas police station 9, has a warrant of arrest for murder with no bail recommended for his temporary release.
