MILF leader slain in gun attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A ranking member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was killed in a gun attack in Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Wednesday.

Iskak Amil of the MILF’s 105th Base Command was driving his motorcycle along a farm-to-market road in Sitio Borogot in Barangay Tuayan when he was shot.

Lt. Billy Fontanilla, Datu Hoffer police chief, said bullet shells for M16 and M14 rifles were recovered at the scene.

Probers said an armed group hostile to the MILF may be behind the killing.
