BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook Cagayan and parts of Northern Luzon before dawn yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the quake was located 17 kilometers east of Dalupiri Island in Calayan. The quake had a depth of 27 kms.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 5, which is classified as strong, in Aparri, Claveria and Calayan in Cagayan and Flora, Apayao.
It was felt at Intensity 4 or moderately strong in Peñablanca, Gonzaga and Tuguegarao in Cagayan and Laoag and Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Vigan and Sinait, Ilocos Sur and Ilagan, Isabela; Intensity 2 in Tabuk, Kalinga, and Intensity I in Baler, Aurora; Santiago, Isabela, and Dagupan, Pangasinan.
Phivolcs said there was no reported damage, but warned the public of aftershocks. – Romina Cabrera
