Pasay, Navotas declare June 30 a holiday
MANILA, Philippines — The cities of Pasay and Navotas have declared June 30 as a special non-working holiday for the inauguration of president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the National Museum in Manila today.
In a June 28 executive order, Pasay Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano said the declaration was in response to the call of the Philippine National Police to local government units of cities adjacent to Manila to consider making June 30 a holiday to lessen the inconvenience of the public due to road closures and protest rallies during Marcos’ inauguration.
Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco has issued a similar executive order.
Tiangco has tasked the city’s Task Force Disiplina, the local police, the City Traffic and Parking Management Office and other concerned units to “strictly adopt and implement security measures” during the holiday.
San Juan and Manila have declared June 30 as a special non-working holiday.
