MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P102 million were seized by personnel of the police Drug Enforcement Group and intelligence units in Barangay Poblacion in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu yesterday morning.
Police said ”high-value” drug suspects Eric Felisilda, 46, and Neil James Vallesquina, 28, were arrested.
The illegal drugs, which were stashed in Chinese tea bags, a bundle of boodle money worth P1 million, a cellular phone and two identification cards were reportedly confiscated from the suspects.
City police chief Lt. Col. Arnel Banzon said the suspects traveled by land from Manila to Cebu to transport the illegal drugs.
He said the suspects are with a group that operates in Eastern, Western and Central Visayas as well as Northen Mindanao.
Banzon said the sting was an offshoot of the operation that resulted in the arrest of Eleanor Quistadio for possession of four kilos of shabu valued at 27.2 million last June 13.
Central Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega said the suspects get their supply from Metro Manila.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan said he would give incentives to local police and other law enforcement units for their active campaign against illegal drugs.
He urged barangay captains to monitor their respective villages on the use and sale of illegal drugs.
