Transport coop leader killed
LINGAYEN, Philippines — A local transport cooperative chief was shot dead by two unidentified men on Thursday night in Barangay Maniboc.
According to a Pangasinan police report, the victim, Petonilo Castillo, had stopped the van he was driving to give way to other vehicles at a corner. The gunmen then shot him three times.
Castillo, 59, is the president of the Lingayen-Dagupan Transportation Cooperative.
He was rushed to the Jesus Nazarene Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Investigators have yet to identify the suspects and establish the motive for the killing.
