MANILA, Philippines — The minimum fare of tricycles in Valenzuela City increased to P12 beginning yesterday.

The local government said it approved an increase in the fares of tricycles due to the surging cost of fuel products.

A tricycle passenger in the city should pay a minimum of P12 and additional P1.50 for every succeeding kilometer.

Commuters taking special trips need to pay P48, plus P1.50 for every additional kilometer.

The new tricycle fare was based on a fare matrix issued by the Valenzuela government.

The city government received complaints from passengers that some tricycle drivers had been collecting higher fares prior to the approval of the minimum fare.
