Maynilad customers to get rebates
MANILA, Philippines — Customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. in Las Piñas, Malabon, Muntinlupa, Quezon City and Valenzuela will receive minor corrections in their water bills in the form of rebates.
In a statement yesterday, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System said the tax rate implemented by Maynilad was not in accordance with the rates approved by the MWSS.
Last March, the MWSS announced that the total current charges for water services in Maynilad and Manila Water Company Inc. customers’ statements of account (SOA) would no longer be subject to the 12 percent value added tax, but should be subject to a lower other percentage tax (OPT).
The MWSS said the OPT would be reflected as “government tax” in the customers’ monthly SOA starting March 21.
