P27 million marijuana plants torched

MANILA, Philippines — Marijuana plants with an estimated value of P27 million were burned following a police operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga yesterday.

Personnel of the Drug Enforcement Group raided four marijuana plantations in Barangay Loccong at around 6 a.m., according to DEG chief Brig. Gen. Randy Peralta.

No one was arrested during the operation, Peralta said.

Meanwhile, in Nueva Ecija, authorities seized shabu with an estimated street value of P374,000 from a drug suspect they arrested in Cabanatuan.

Vladimir Garcia, 50, yielded 55 grams of shabu to the arresting officers in Barangay Camp Tinio.

Aside from shabu, police also seized identification cards and P2,050 cash from the suspect.
