Bong Go vows continuous support for healthcare workers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go continues to advocate for the welfare and interest of the country’s healthcare workers in recognition of their sacrifices, especially amid the COVID pandemic.

On Wednesday, the senator conducted a monitoring visit of the Malasakit Center at the Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum, Davao del Norte.

In his speech, Go, chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography, thanked healthcare and non-health care workers for the services they have rendered, citing how they saved and protected Filipinos throughout the pandemic.

“Before anything else, I join President Duterte in thanking frontliners for your sacrifice. We would not be at Alert Level 1 if not for all of you,” he said.

Go gave assurance that the government continues to strengthen the country’s health care system and ensure that healthcare workers are well supported.

He pushed for the passage of Republic Act 11712, which provides benefits and allowances to public and private healthcare workers during a state of public health emergency.

Under the law, health care workers are entitled to health emergency allowance for every month of service during a state of public health emergency.
