21 of 27 Malabon candidates file SOCE

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-one out of 27 candidates for local positions in Malabon City have filed their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE), according to the local Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Six candidates who lost in the race for city councilor have yet to submit their SOCE.

Poll bets are mandated under Republic Act 7166 to submit within 30 days after the elections their “full, true and itemized statement of contributions and expenditures” during the campaign period.

The Comelec extended the deadline of SOCE filing for winning national and local candidates until November.

Sources said mayor-elect Jeannie Sandoval and her rival Councilor Enzo Oreta, younger brother of outgoing Malabon Mayor Antolin Oreta III, declared that they spent less than the mandated campaign spending limit for the city’s over 258,000 registered voters.
