Dengue clustering in 77 Westen Visayas
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Seventy-seven barangays in Western Visayas have recorded clustering of dengue cases, according to the Department of Health.
Forty-five of these barangays are in Negros Occidental, including five in this city, 23 in Antique, two in Capiz, and one each in Iloilo City and Aklan.
Despite the increase in dengue cases, Western Visayas has yet to reach the alert level threshold.
Negros Occidental recorded the most number of cases at 657 with five deaths.Bacolod had 139 cases with four deaths followed by Antique with 400 cases.
In Bulacan, the epidemiology and disease surveillance unit of the provincial health office has recorded 2,056 suspected dengue cases since January.
The cases are 336 higher compared to the same period last year.
Bustos, Plaridel and Pandi recorded dengue-related deaths on May 28, May 17 and March 25, respectively. Only two deaths were recorded in the same period last year. — Ramon Efren Lazaro
