MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) will put up a more accurate and accessible database system on the nationwide campaign against illegal drugs.

Dubbed as the PNP’s Drug-Related Data Integration System (DRDIGS), the database system will serve as a digital library of all the records, intelligence reports and other pertinent information related to the war on drugs.

PNP Directorate for Operations chief Maj. Gen. Valeriano de Leon said the DO and the Information Technology Management Service are working to set up the database system in preparation for the incoming administration of president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“It is essential for us to have operational data to have an accurate picture of the drug war situation,” he said in a statement.

Once the database system is fully operational, De Leon said the PNP would be able to effectively manage operational accomplishments by storing, controlling and processing data, as well as providing quick, efficient, real-time reports and statistics on drug war.

De Leon said having more accurate data would help them see an honest evaluation of the PNP’s progress in the implementation of the campaign against drugs.

De Leon said the DRDIGS would serve as a guide for conducting anti-narcotics operations more effectively.

The collection and storage of operational data is crucial to the success of the PNP’s future strategies against illegal drugs, he said.

De Leon earlier assured the public that the aggressive fight against drugs, which President Duterte has started, would continue under the Marcos presidency.
