Customs donates fuel to AFP, PCG
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs will donate to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) more than 47,000 liters of fuel that were confiscated by the BOC for non-payment of taxes.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III yesterday said he authorized the BOC to donate a total of 41,356.8 liters of fuel to the PCG and another 6,000 liters to the AFP.
Dominguez said the petroleum products to be turned over to the PCG and AFP were seized by the BOC through enforcement activities as part of the fuel marking program.
Based on records, the BOC confiscated diesel totaling about 11,000 liters inside the premises of Joycel Bus Lines in Caloocan City.
The BOC also seized unmarked diesel within the premises of Lemiz Fuel Station and Star Oil in Meycauayan, Bulacan, as well as in Fuel Source in Cabanatuan City.
PCG spokesman Commodore Armand Balilo said the fuel donation would help the agency’s patrol operations.
