MANILA, Philippines — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has ordered telecommunications companies as well as the agency’s regional directors and officers-in-charge to warn the public against fake job text scams.
The NTC directed Dito, Globe and Smart to text-blast their subscribers from May 28 to June 4 with the message, “Babala. Huwag pong maniwala sa text na nag-aalok ng trabaho na may pangako ng malaking sweldo. Ito po ay scam.”
Telcos were ordered by the NTC to submit their compliance report to the Office of the Commissioner on or before June 8.
Meanwhile, all NTC regional directors and officers-in-charge were also directed to appear before local radio and television stations to warn the public against text scams from May 28 to June 11.
The regional NTC officers were also mandated to report their compliance with the order to the Office of the Commissioner by June 15.
The NTC said these orders are in line with its effort to strengthen its information drive against the proliferation of fake job text scams.
