MANILA, Philippines — A suspected gunrunner was arrested in Quezon City on Thursday.
Arnold Ologenio, 45, was collared during an entrapment operation in Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 11:15 a.m., according to Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina.
The operation was in response to a tip from a confidential informant that Ologenio is involved in the sale of loose firearms.
Based on their investigation, Medina said Ologenio had been selling handguns for P6,000 each. A policeman posing as a buyer set up a deal with the suspect.
Ologenio attempted to escape after he sensed the presence of police but was captured after a brief chase.
The suspect yielded a .38-caliber revolver loaded with six bullets and marked money.
Ologenio is being held on charges of violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
