Baguio drug pusher gets life
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A man arrested for selling illegal drugs in this city has been sentenced to life in prison.
John Anthony Rosal was apprehended under a bed in a house where he tried to hide from agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) who posed as buyers of shabu worth P120,000 in a sting along Wagner Road in October 2020.
Baguio Regional Trial Court Judge Rufus Malecdan also ordered Rosal to pay a fine of P500,000 and undergo drug rehabilitation for one year.
Cesar Bacani, NBI-Cordillera police director, said Rosal was first indicted for illegal drugs when he was 21 years old.
“The conviction is yet another success of the government’s fight against illegal drugs,” Bacani said.
Meanwhile, PDEA-Caraga regional information officer Dindo Abellanosa said drug suspect Rose Ann Perater was arrested during a raid on her house in Barangay Baan Riverside in Butuan City on Thursday.
He said the suspect yielded 10 grams of shabu, a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber .22 gun, magazines, bullets and two airsoft guns.– Ben Serrano
