MANILA, Philippines — Health care workers in Manila will receive their allowance from the national government after a delay of four months, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said on Friday.

The Department of Health (DOH) has released P30,268,812.50 for the One COVID-19 Allowance, which Moreno approved and signed, he said in his Facebook Live address.

The stipend would be given to 4,825 health workers from the city health office, Ospital ng Tondo, Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Sta. Ana Hospital, Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital and Ospital ng Maynila.

Each worker is expected to receive over P6,273, according to estimates.

Moreno said the DOH allowance is for the month of January.

He thanked the medical frontliners for their “dedication and courage” in fighting the spread of COVID-19 in the city.

As of yesterday, the city government reported 20 active COVID cases.
