Woman held at NAIA over bullet

MANILA, Philippines — A woman was accosted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA-1) on Wednesday for carrying a bullet in her bag.

Members of the Office of Transportation Security manning the X-ray machine at the entrance of a restaurant in the NAIA-1 saw an image of a bullet in the bag of Ailene Andrada of Nueva Vizcaya.

Andrada told police she always carries the bullet as an amulet to protect her from “bad spirits” and ensure a safe journey.

Police confiscated the bullet, warned Andrada that bullets are prohibited at the airport and released her without any charges.
