MANILA, Philippines — An official of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) allegedly involved in corruption was arrested in Quezon City on Wednesday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported yesterday.
Maria Fe Doringo was apprehended in an entrapment operation at the LTO’s Novaliches district office in Barangay Kaligayahan at around 4:30 p.m.
Doringo, who is the releasing and receiving officer at the district office, had been under monitoring by the Anti-Red Tape Authority for her alleged illegal activities.
Probers said Doringo facilitated the processing of student permits and driver’s license transactions in exchange for money.
The CIDG said Doringo reportedly demanded P4,000 for every transaction.
Police took Doringo into custody after she accepted marked money from an undercover operative posing as a client.
Doringo is facing charges for violating the Anti-Red Tape Act.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of Doringo’s operations, the CIDG said.
