Couple shot dead in Aparri

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — A businessman and his wife were gunned down in Barangay Maura in Appari, Cagayan on Thursday night.

Samuel Soliven, 73, and his wife Teresita, 69, were in a tricycle when they were shot, Capt. Isabelita Gano, Cagayan police information officer, said yesterday.

Initial reports showed the gunmen tailed the tricycle of the victims and opened fire as the couple were about to enter their compound at past 8 p.m.

The victims were declared dead on arrival at the Charles W. Selbey Memorial Hospital.

Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing and the perpetrators.
