Man beats up son, shot dead

MALOLOS, Philippines — A man was shot dead by responding police officers after he allegedly refused to stop beating up his son in Marilao, Bulacan on Saturday.

Fredie Lontayao died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Sta. Rosa 2, according to a report received by Col. Charlie Cabradilla, acting Bulacan police director.

Investigation showed the municipal police received a call for assistance about a beating incident.

Lontayao reportedly refused to heed the police order to stop, and attacked one of the officers with a knife.

The officer was forced to shoot Lontayao to defend himself.

Probers said they recovered a kitchen knife at the scene of the incident.
