MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela City government is set to open the newly designed Fatima Avenue, which would admit only pedestrians, in two weeks.
Outgoing Mayor Rex Gatchalian, who was elected District 1 congressman, said yesterday the new avenue in Barangay Marulas would be transformed into a linear park where people could walk, jog or bike. It would also have outdoor dining areas and benches.
The avenue, which leads to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, will be entirely closed to vehicular traffic. The city government sealed off the road to motorists late last year.
