Negros Occidental dengue cases up 71%
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Dengue cases in Negros Occidental rose by 71 percent from January to April 23 compared to the same period last year, the provincial health office reported yesterday.
Up to 278 cases were reported on April 23 compared to 116 during the same month last year. Three fatalities were also recorded.
While dengue cases are increasing, provincial health officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang said the numbers have not reached alarming or epidemic level.
San Carlos City recorded the highest number of cases at 32 while cases dropped by 85.71 percent in Victorias City.
