INC endorses Lacuna’s bid for mayor
MANILA, Philippines — Religious group Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has endorsed Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna’s candidacy for mayor in the May 9 elections.
Lacuna, who is seeking to succeed presidential candidate Manila Mayor Isko Moreno at city hall, thanked the INC led by executive minister Eduardo Manalo for the endorsement.
She asked the INC to pray for her to be able to fulfill her platform of public service to Manila residents.
Moreno had endorsed Lacuna and her running mate, actor and congressman Yul Servo-Nieto, to continue his programs in the city.
Lacuna has said she is ready for the mayoral post, adding that she was not a spare tire as vice mayor to Moreno.
As a physician, Lacuna led the city’s vaccination and COVID-19 pandemic response programs.
The INC also expressed its support for Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian, who is running for congressman.
Gatchalian is seeking to swap posts with his brother, first district Rep. Weslie Gatchalian.
