2 kids hacked to death in Samar

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — Two children died and another was seriously wounded when a man went on a hacking spree in Barangay Pinamitinan in Marabut, Samar on Tuesday.

A certain Junel, 12, and Jhasmin, 13, both Grade 7 students, suffered hack wounds in various parts of the body.

The third victim identified only as Chuna, 9, managed to seek help from barangay officials despite her wounds. She remained confined in a hospital yesterday.

The children were reportedly on their way home after harvesting cassava when they were attacked.

Responding barangay officials and police personnel failed to arrest the assailant.
