BINMALEY, Pangasinan, Philippines — The deputy police chief of this town, who was accused of killing a company driver in Nueva Ecija on April 29 surrendered on Wednesday night.
Maj. Antonino Cuaresma was accompanied by his superior Lt. Col. Genevieve Poblete when he turned himself in at Camp Antonio Sison.
Cuaresma also surrendered his service firearm and magazines with bullets.
Cuaresma allegedly shot dead Jonathan Fernandez, 38, whom the police official accused of having an affair with his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, S/Sgt. Ronnel Aguilar, who was tagged in the killing of former overseas Filipino worker Renalyn Umali in February, has been relieved from his post.
Umali’s burnt body was found with a gunshot wound in Infanta, Quezon on Feb. 15, a week after she failed to return home supposedly after meeting Aguilar, said to be her boyfriend.
