MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) dispatched yesterday a search and rescue team after five children were reported missing while swimming in Taal Lake in Batangas.

PCG spokesman Commodore Armand Balilo said the children were reportedly aged seven to 12.

The PCG said it received a report at around 12:10 p.m. that the five children were missing in Barangay Looc in Balete town.

Rescue teams from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Balete and municipal government joined PCG personnel in conducting surface search in adjacent areas.

The PCG also dispatched divers from its special operations group to conduct an underwater search.
