3 Chinese nabbed for kidnapping

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Three Chinese accused of kidnapping their compatriot were arrested in Parañaque City on Sunday.

Kevin Shi, Lu Shunguang and Cau Jun were nabbed at a casino resort and hotel complex along Seaside Drive in Barangay Tambo at around 1 a.m.

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the suspects allegedly kidnapped and detained Ding Fengfeng, 35, supposedly for not paying his debt.

The suspects reportedly demanded P5 million from the victim in exchange for his release.

Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, operatives of the Parañaque police raided a unit at the establishment and rescued the victim.

“The call for help was quickly resolved due to the active response of our police personnel,” Carlos said in a statement.

The suspects are being held on charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
