P2 million reward up for capture of village chief’s killers
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — A P2-million cash reward has been offered by a former mayor in exchange for information that could lead to the arrest of three men who shot dead a barangay captain in this province on Saturday.
Former Candaba mayor Danilo Baylon, who offered the reward, said the bounty would help speed up the arrest of the killers of Alvin Mendoza, 52, of Barangay Alasas.
Mendoza was running for councilor of Candaba at the time of his murder.
Baylon urged the police and other law enforcement agencies to speed up the investigation.
He said Mendoza’s murder affected the peace and order situation in Pampanga, especially in this election season.
Mendoza was in a car on his way to a meeting in Bacolor when motorcycle-riding assailants waylaid him.
He was declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital.
A special investigation task group was created to identify and arrest the killers.
